Using Adyen Test Cards in Development

Adyen sandbox allows you to test Drop-in, Components, and custom checkout flows against test platform environments before going live.

1. Use Test Environment Credentials

Initialize the Adyen Web Drop-in or API client with your test environment endpoints (checkout-test.adyen.com) and your test API key / client key.

2. Enter Test Card Credentials

Use official test card numbers from the table above for Visa or Mastercard. In Adyen test mode, standard test cards require an expiration date of 03/2030 (or any future date) and security code 737.

3. Simulate 3D Secure 2 Challenge Flows

Use the 3D Secure 2 test card to trigger authentication challenges. In the Advanced flow, Adyen returns an action object with action.type = "threeDS2" and resultCode = "ChallengeShopper".

4. Inspect Result Codes & Webhooks

Verify how your checkout frontend and backend process standard Adyen result codes, including Authorised, Refused, and notification webhooks.
